Barbara Sherman, Masters in Movement, LifeForce Yoga® Practitioner, E-RYT, and Personal Reiki Master, has a background in creative dance and movement and enjoys combining yoga postures into short flowing sequences supported by breath and body awareness.
Barbara studied with multiple yoga teachers in Connecticut before moving to Oro Valley, Arizona in 1999. After completing her yoga teacher training with Permelia Harden of Yoga Oasis in Tucson, Barb enriched her teaching and her personal practice with Amy Weintraub's LifeForce Yoga® Workshops and Trainings. She completed her LifeForce Yoga® Practitioner Level Two in 2008. She has over 1600 hours of teaching experience.
Barb's yoga education is always ongoing and includes workshops and classes with many notable teachers locally, as well as in international yoga conferences such as "Yoga Journal Live" in San Diego and most recently, the Symposium on Yoga Therapy and Research in Reston, Virginia.
Barbara lives in Oro Valley with her husband, Ted Maynard and two cats, named Durga and Shiva. Their back patio, with its view of the mountains facing east, is a great place for moon and sun salutations. She finds the desert very nourishing.
"Yoga is learning to be at ease in your body and living fully in the present". -Durga and Shiva, the wise ones.
